Happy Chinese Moooo Year!

Gong Xi Fa Chai.. this year as usual we celebrate CNY with my mum's family in Ranau. Last year we were there to join the family dinner, but this year we drove in the morning itself. My youngest Aunty AhTong invite the lion dance to come and 'clean' the house. Syakir and Danish were really excited when they had the chance to fed those lions. Really funny.

Ok loh.. may this bull year will bring joy and happiness to everyone. Hope the economy downturn will not hurt us that much.

Parking at Center Point

Halo! Went to visit Industrial Training (L.I) students for the last two days. No.. not in KL, just around KK. Went to Karamunsing Complex, SEDCO Plaza then to Center Point. Betuuul! Most of them are having their training with companies in the shopping complexes. So, apa lagi.. saya pun drink water while diving.. (kekeke.. direct translation). But not have enough time though. Coz need to go from one place to another within 4 - 5 hours, that's not easy especially when it comes to finding the parking space. The most challenging was Center Point car park. Not only because it's quite stif tapi I have bad experience during my last visit to the car park. Iyaa.. terberenti di tgh2 naik bukit.. terpaksa tarik tu hand brake lagi.. Sebab kereta di depan tu tiba2 jak berhenti. That time I just got my driving license. Macam2 doa sudah keluar.... tu enjin kereta pun mengaum semacam. Worst thing was the car is going down a little bit when I released the hand brake. Luckily I managed to hit the break. I ask my friend to take over.

Dolly: Bulih tu kakNa, tekan jak tu minyak, slowly release handbrake.
Me : Ndak bulih..ndak bulih.. matilaaa.. nanti terlanggar kereta di belakang.
(I saw the driver was reversing giving me ample space, just in case..)
Dolly: Bulih tuu... ok relax.
Tekan minyak... kasi balance tu clutch..
ok .. now realese handbrake..
Tanpa semena-mena keretaku meluncur terus dengan lajunya.. dengan bunyi enjin dan tayar 'bertaluk'.
Me :This is my last time parking di CP. Ndak mau lagi aku naik sini!

That was 2 years ago. Now, I am a competence driver. So, I was quite confident that day. Don't worry nothing happen, I managed to go in and out Center Point unscratch. Alhamdulillah I have overcome one of my fear. So, want me to park at Center Point? No problemo!

My Very Own Font!

I have wanted to experiment creating my own font using my handwriting, although I know my writing is near to cacing kerawit ;). Last week when I do my usual bloghopping, I found this website that allow you to transform your handwriting to a font! Yes, your copyrighted original and your own font! I've done it and it turn out to be exiting. But before that you need to have this bahan2:

1. Computer (of course lah bah.. silly me)
2. Pen (preferable dark ink pen like magic pen or transparency pen or tiny marker pen)
3. Scanner

So, you already have those? Ok, the rest... just follow a simple 7 step-by-step instruction.

And..tadaaa.. here is mine. Huduh? I told you.. cacing kerawit kan.. A bit messy coz I use pencil at first and trace it with a marker pen.. don't do that..

Nak Jumpa Pak Hussein!

Did you watch the AJL last night? Wow... I am really impressed by the performance most of the singers. Who said Malaysia lack of talented singer? Just give them a chance. Lend them your ear and listen to their song. We don't have to buy all their CDs but just tune to our local radio station, once in a while.

Talking about last night concert, I really like Stacy's energetic performance. Singing while dancing.. it's not easy. Not everybody can do that. But Ayu seems not well-prepared. Some part of her song was pitchy and she is playing safe by singing it in a lower note. The talented Aizat with Lagu Kita. Wrote, composed and sang his song himself. He is just 19 years old. He has definitely a bright future ahead. Who else, oh yeah, the come back by Ziana Zain was powerful as always. I thought she should be crowned with Best Vocal though. Heliza and Zahid also gave the best out of them through Doa Dalam Lagu.

And of course the controversial Faizal Tahir with Coba and Sampai Syurga. I realized every time he perform he will try to do his best. And last night was really wonderful especially the second song. I can't describe it but have u own judgment.

The performance by the Meet Uncle Hussein was unique. My hubby said this indie band has great opportunity to win the AJL because the music is new and different. Yes, they won!

Congratulation to the AJL ke 23. It really was a great entertainment and event. Not to forget the music arrangement by Ramli MS was just superb! Anugerah Juara Lagu 23 can be described as the best AJL been organize by TV3.

I read this at Bee's. Sungguh lucu cerita ini tetapi juga menggerunkan buat ibu mcm saya. Dua org budak German berusia 5 & 6 tahun merancang untuk menaiki pesawat ke Africa untuk kahwin lari. Mereka membawa bersama seorang lagi sahabat utk menjadi saksi. Dont worry, they never reach Africa but the police station. Punyalah nekad, sampai mo lari pi Africa. Full story here.

Lori rosak!

Anybody from Indah Permai to KK using Jalan Sulaman this morning, must be caught in a very bad traffic jam. So, I went through the Alam Mesra. But, it is also congested. To make thing worse, those 'org2-yg-pikir-diorang-jak-yg-mo-cepat" try to jump the line by using the road secara menyongsang at the BIG roundabout Alam Mesra. Atthe traffic light to U*S was also terrible. Bersimpang siur.. people just dont care the color of the traffic light. Mana ada ruang kosong, diorang masuk jak. So, they are blocking the car to U*S from Alam Mesra. Punya lah lama sy tersangkut sana.. about 5 times tu traffic light hijau, pun tidak bergerak lagi sebab semua pemandu di KK ni sangat berhemah. Ada satu mamat tu, siap bagi the F sign lagi bila saya honk. Of course lah, it's my way apa.. Pikirlah sikit.. sebelah tu your wife and kids at the back. Jagalah status sebagai seorang bapa.  At last, I open my window and talk to the driver to give me ways coz the light is green. Nasib lah ada jugak manusia yg ada logik akal, bagi makcik ni lalu... 

Oh ya..when I reach at the office, I asked around what is the cause of that traffic jam and they said because a lorry has broke down at the bridge near Yayasan Sabah. Ooooh.. itu saja.. ingatkan ada accident.. The jam was so bad, ada yang sangkut sampai lebih satu jam before reaching U*S. 

Anyhow, I have started with a bad mood because of that jam and of course that 'humble man with the F sign'. How am I gonna continue my kerja yg x pandai siap.. uwwaaa!

Rainy

It has been rainy everyday since last Sunday. When I woke up this morning, it was raining. And it is still raining until now (2.40 pm). I hope there will be no flood at the Jalan Sulaman on the way to Indah Permai. Normally if the raining continues, and heavy, high chances to be banjir at that spot.

Talking about the spot (jln sulaman) have you notice the golden horses they installed on the construction lot? I am (also my kiddos) are very curious what are they for? Ada hotel Palace of Golden Horses kah situ? Or is it for the King Fisher's new mega project? The houses are very expensive. Million.. million..oooo..

Nikon's CoolPix or Canon's IXUS

This is the new additional to my 2009 wish list. My hubby got his Olympus DSLR, but it's too bulky for me to put inside my handbag. So, I will go for compact camera although the functions and the choice of manual is cannot be compared with dslr, but I think it will fit my requirement.

But, I don't know which one to choose. Nikon's CoolPix S710 14.5 MegaPixels worth RM1K++ or Canon's IXUS 980 IS 14.7 MP worth RM1,400++K?


but, the canon ixus look very sleek, don't they? aspecially when it in my hand.. ;)

Israel Yang Terlampau

I am really sad. Sedih betul tengok hasil tangan kekejaman Israel yang bermaharaja lela. Ditambah dengan kebiadapan kerajaan Amerika yang kononnya negara yang paling adil (hanya mengikut matanya yg satu). Looking at those innocent faces yang terkorban, membuatkan saya terfikir bagaimanalah ia kalau terjadi di negara kita.

Hari ni kita cuti?

Danish : Ummi hari ni kita cuti?
Ummi : Mmmm .. tidak hari ni kita skolah.
Danish : Alaaa.. kenapa hari2 mau skolah..
Ummi : Memanglah kena skolah.. kan Danish mo jadi budak pandai, kan?
Danish : Penat bah Danish, hari2 mo skolah. [sambil nangis2]

Itu adalah soalan wajib Danish setiap pagi. Bangun2 jak mesti tanya sama ada hari ni cuti ka tidak. Kadang2 saya diamkan jak. Sebab sudah expected his action after kasi tau bahawa hari ini tidak cuti. Dan hari ni dia nangis lagi. Puas dipujuk. Tapi bila bagi tau yg hari ni ndak payah pakai baju skolah, diam pulak dia sambil senyum2. Marah betul dia kalau mo pakai baju sekolah. Buat masa ni baju skolah nya baru sepasang, tiada saiz yg sesuai so terpaksa ditempah. Masa hantar Danish ke sekolah tadi, nangis nya makin lama makin kuat. Sempat lagi cikgunya pegang sambil Danish meronta2.

Danish : Ummiii.. dengarlah Danish mo kasitau..
[Ummi tgh cakap ngan cikgunya time Danish nangis]
Ummi: Ya, kenapa Danish?
Danish : Nanti.. ummi.. ambil Danish awal ya? [tersedu2 dia nangis]
Ummi : Ok, nanti ummi ambil Danish awal.
Danish : Jangan lambat ya ummi...

So, hari ni kena siapkan kerja awal. Kena ambil the boys tu awal sikit. Lagi pun, KK tgh hujan sekarang ni.

Oh ya, pasal Danial jarang pulak nak crita.. nanti saya update pasal Danial pulak.. [hahaha.. crita pasal anak2 lah pulak]. Skrg ni ada pulak tebiat Danial ni nak pegang tangan masa ummi driving. Kalau ummi mo tukar gear, nangis smcm jak sebab kena lepas tangan. [Danial duduk di baby seat sebelah ummi].

Macam2 kerenah anak2 ummi ni.. Belum lagi si kakak Nurulnya. Haiii.. sabar jak lah. Ya Allah, berilah kekuatan buat hambaMu ini dalam berhadapan dengan karenah anak2nya. Kurniakan lah kami anak2 yg soleh dan solehah. Amiin!

Very nice 'getaways' place if u like sea, sands, sun. But quite pricey though. Located at Tuaran, 30++ km from Kota Kinabalu.

Multimedia Class

This semester I am teaching 2 classes. Although both are Multimedia classes, but the content are quite different. For minor, it is an introductory class to understand Multimedia, but for the elective class we will go in deep on how multimedia works.

The minor class is very small, but I prefer small classes. Who does not? I decided to have more hands on during the classes. The other class got around 33 students, which I have already taught most of them from previous semester. I feel quite comfortable in both classes because most of them show their interest to learn multimedia. Therefore, I promise myself to give the best out of myself for this semester.

To my students, hope u have a great time with me throughout the semester and

So many works yet so little time

Every time the new semester began, I will face the same old routine, preparing the course materials, the schedules, plus the clerical works. Even though I have already taught the subject for several times, I keep on updating the materials, the syllabus, the reference book, the presentation slides, new students assignments and project. You know lah kan, the IT technology evolving very fast. Even I myself feel boring to teach the student for the same thing for every semester. So, with some creativity (or too creative) and wishful thinking.. I thought, why don't I teach them this and that.. it is important for them to know this or that for their future. But at the end, kelang kabut kasi siap slides before class. Sadly not all students will appreciate your effort though. It's ok for me if they feel sleepy in my class (I have been in their shoe, the sleepyhead) but I can't tolerate chit chatting in my class. Disturbing bah. Normally I will stop teaching for seconds, and wait until they realize that their behavior have contribute to my silence. Then I will ask them to leave if they feel it is wasting their time to sit and listen to my lecture. Better do something useful lah kan.

Well, goes back to my tonnes of task... We are now preparing the Quality Assurance document for our program so that it can be accredited by the JPT - Jabatan Pengajian Tinggi. I need to compile the information about how to monitor and review the program's quality, and something about the leadearship, governance and administration. Now, you think the lecturers know about all this? Well, I thought the best person to do this is of course the Pegawai yg jaga maklumat skolah ni lah kan? In our case the Penolong Pendaftar. But nope, they gave this task to the lecturer. The due date is next Wednesday. Suka nya aku.. >:(

So, why I still have time to put those merapu in my blog? Alaaah.. lunch time bah, I need to clear up my head before continue the never ending task...

Danish's First Day at School

Last year, I sent Danish to a play school at KF. That school is under U*S management. Before this, I sent Danish to a makcik babysitter, since he was 2 months old until 3 years old. He is a very active kiddo, and some of my friend said he is a hyperactive. But no, he is not hyperactive, but a very, very lively and active. However, dia ni cengeng, he can cry easily.

The first day I sent him to the play school, he was crying like mad. He jump up and down.. guling2, crying all his heart out. Berabis tul lah bilang org. I have to stay there for couples of hours waiting him to calm down. But, the longer I sat with him..the louder his cry will be. So, what did I do? I just talked to him, saying that I need to go to work and he need to be at the school.. sbb tiada org jaga di rumah. After that, I went off. He run towards me and the teacher hold him tight... dia meronta2 sambil panggil ummi.

Danish : Ummiii..!!. Danish mau ikut ummi.. (nangis kuat)
Ummi : Nanti ummi datang ambil Danish, ya
Danish : Ndak mauuu..!!

It was very sad situation, but what could I do? I have other responsible too. So, I just left him there and went to the office. All day long I keep remember Danish and his cry.

When I fetch him after work, he lost his voice because of too much crying. His teacher said he don't want to sit down with his friends, don't want to eat, don't want to sleep or even play. He ran around the school searching for me. Kesian kan..

The next day, the same thing happen. It continue for one month, the crying and reluctant to follow the instruction from the teacher. But slowly, he gain his confidence and trust. He is the 'popular' kiddo in his playschool last time.

Now, he went to the kindergarten just next to his playschool. And yes, your guess is right. He is in that mode again.

Danish : Ummi, Danish tidak mau pakai baju ni (baju sekolah)
Ummi : Danish mesti pakai ni, semua kawan pun pakai baju skolah..
Danish : Kenapa?
Ummi : Budak sekolah mesti pakai baju sekolah...
Danish : Kenapa mau pigi sekolah..
Ummi : Budak besar mesti pigi sekolah supaya pandai..
Danish : Danish bukan budak besar, Danish masih kecil lagi

The Last Day of 2008

Sorry, this entry was meant for yesterday.But too tired to update it last night. So here it goes, although hari ni dah Tahun 2009, I think it is no harm to glance back what we have done last year (yesterday bah!).

What a wonderful ending(of 2008)... So off we go..(my Nurul and me) 1B lah mana lagi, the nearest and most convenience for meeting up friends. Loads of nice kedai makan. I had my last lunch for the year with two gorgeous lady, my dearest friend Az and Rach. We were together since zaman UMS di Kampus Menggatal lagi. Those days we were tutors. So were so close that time. Then, we went to further study, Az went to UMIST, Manchester(Mechanical engineering) and I went to Strathclyde Univ., Glasgow with Saridah. Rachel also went to Manchester (kan?) and continue her Phd in chemical engineering which was sponsored by one of a big company in UK. Terror oo ni minah. Macam baru saja kita balik dr UK kan.. masih terbayang2 lagi tu carboot, argos,, etc kakaka..

(correction: Rach went to Birmingham for master and PhD, thanks Az)

My dearest friends

Actually we invited Sar and Lilian too, but they have their own plan I guess. As usual we chit chat about life, kiddos, updates info on our old friends, old memories, also about the future and of course gossips too. Az sudah semakin slim, and Rach claim gaining some weight (tidak nampak lah Rach), and me hahaha seperti biasa, semakin tembam.. bahagia bah.

I decided to order Asam Laksa, Nurul - Nasi Lemak, Rach - Java mee, Az -rice noodles (x ingat lah Az) and the pencuci mulut roti kawin. Sedaaap! About 2.30 pm we say goodbye to each other. We promise to meet again next year, kan?

Oh ya, before that Nurul and I went to do some back to school shopping at Kamdar. I bought 2 pair of pinafore and 2 pair of bajung kurung for Nurul. The price quite reasonable as well as the quality.
